BW SHRM team and advisorThe Baldwin Wallace student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is on a roll, earning a SHRM Superior Merit Award for "excellence and achievement" in a winning 2016-2017 academic year. The award was acknowledged at SHRM’s Annual Conference and Exposition in New Orleans, Louisiana in June.

"I am so proud of how much our chapter has grown over the past two years and we could not have done it without the support of the BW community, specifically the School of Business and Career Services," said BW student chapter president Gwyn Dubel '18. "I am excited to see what we will accomplish this upcoming year.”

In the very first time BW entered the competition, the Yellow Jacket human resource management majors placed third out of 22 teams in Division I, including many from larger schools. The team was made up of Dubel, Christina Koleno '18, Rachel Murphy '18 and Macy Szucs '17 and advised by Dr. Mary Pisnar.

SHRM also received recognition at the spring BW Student Life and Leadership Awards which chooses winners from more than 120 BW student organizations:

  • Educational Program of the Year - Career Expo Preparation Events
  • Innovative Program of the Year - Picture Perfect Profile/LinkedIn Photo Event
  • Emerging Leader of the Year - Christina Koleno (SHRM Treasurer)
  • Student Organization President of the Year - Gwyn Dubel

SHRM is the world’s largest HR professional society, representing 285,000 members in more than 165 countries. Dubel notes that "BW SHRM membership is free and offers all BW students the opportunity to learn more about human resources, connect with influential business leaders from top companies and build leadership skills that are essential to professional success."
