Miller will be the Sun's third head coach since the franchise moved from Orlando to Connecticut in 2003. With this job, Miller also makes history as the first openly gay coach of a professional team in the U.S., according to

In an article on the Connecticut Sun website, Miller states, “I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to be the next head coach of the Connecticut Sun. The organization has a great reputation across the league and a strong commitment to winning a championship. The educated and passionate fan base help create one of the best home environments in the league. When you combine that with the young talent on the roster, it easy to understand why I am so anxious for the upcoming season to begin.”

Miller started his coaching career his senior year of high school, when he led middle school teams. At age 22, he became Cleveland State’s assistant coach. Miller was the head coach at Bowling Green State University from 2001-2012 and Indiana University from 2012-2014. At BGSU, he was named Mid-American Conference coach of the year six times.

At Baldwin Wallace, Miller received his undergraduate in health and physical education and business administration. He won the University's prestigious Alumni Merit Award in 2015.
