Happy faces could be found throughout campus for Week of Welcome, an exciting time for 725 freshmen who now call BW their home.

An enthusiastic and impressive group of 725 freshmen are the newest members of the Baldwin Wallace community. With bright smiles and aspirations, they began their college experience at this year's Week of Welcome, which began Aug. 17 with move-in day.

As a group, they are accomplished, diverse and ready to make their mark both on campus and later in the world. They hail from 28 states and have impressive scholastic achievement, leadership, service and extracurricular involvement.

Among notable statistics, 23 percent represent students of color and 86 students are members of the BW Honors Program.

As they join the BW community, they bring a vibrancy to the campus and to the other 3,284 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. 


  • Twenty-one percent listed math and science as a major followed by health, physical education and sport sciences at 16 percent; business at 14 percent; and the humanities and social sciences each at 13 percent. Music was chosen by 10 percent.
  • Over 160 were National Honor Society members. Ten qualified for National Merit Semifinalist/Finalist/Commended honors. The median high school grade point average was 3.5.

  • Over 325 were varsity athletes and 59 All-Star, All-State or All-Region in a varsity sport.

  • Sixty-seven were high school marching band members and 135 were music ensemble participants.

  • Twenty-five percent did volunteer/community service.

  • Fifty-four students held an executive position with their high school Student Council.

  • Over 80 were in clubs centered around diversity.

  • Thirty-four percent are the first in their family to pursue a four-year degree.
