Athletic Competition Postponed through December 31, 2020
Amidst continued concerns about COVID-19, the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) made the difficult decision to postpone all NCAA intercollegiate athletic competition through December 31, 2020.
This decision affects fall intercollegiate competition for cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis and volleyball. The winter-season sports of basketball, indoor track and field, swimming and diving and wrestling will also have intercollegiate competition postponed during the 2020 calendar year.
OAC Announces Spring Schedules for Postponed Fall Team Sports
The OAC announced preliminary spring competition schedules for the three team sports (football, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball) that were postponed this fall due to COVID-19. See details for spring schedules.
- Fall Training and Development
-
While BW appreciates the care the OAC is showing for our student athletes, we know competition is very important to our Yellow Jackets and their role in the legacy of BW varsity sports.
Although intercollegiate competition has been postponed, the OAC and our BW coaches are planning opportunities this fall for our student athletes for conditioning, skills training and leadership development in preparation for Spring competition.
BW athletics training protocols and support for student-athletes will be designed following all relevant guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), the OAC and NCAA.

Testing, Screening and Contact Tracing
To help protect our students, faculty and staff from COVID-19, BW has developed a robust and comprehensive program of testing, screening and contact tracing. Student-athletes were required to complete a COVID-19 test upon their arrival to campus. View full details on COVID-19 testing, screening and contact tracing.
Arrival Dates and Times
Student Athletes who have already received information for early arrival to campus may now disregard that plan and return to campus under the regular schedule.
Residence Life and team coaches will be in contact with additional information.
- Athletic Facilities
-
BW athletic facilities have been open in the month of July for our athletes to use. Prior to using the facilities, athletes are required to have a symptoms check as they enter the facility.
Currently, the facilities are only open for specific periods of the day and a limited number of people are allowed in at any one time to maintain physical distance, manage sanitation and allow for contact tracing, if needed.
- Recruiting Visits to Campus
-
During fall semester, student-athletes must arrange pre-scheduled recruitment visits with the Admission Office or Athletics Office.
- Jackets United
-
BW has confidence that our student athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and supporters will rally, stay connected and excel and we look forward to resuming competition and cheering on our Yellow Jackets to victory in 2021.
