Baldwin Wallace University participates in a cooperative program with Case Western Reserve University Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS) that enables social workers to add the school social work license to their professional credentials by enrolling in three graduate education courses at Baldwin Wallace.

This cooperative partnership was originally set up for currently enrolled MSASS students but may also be available to licensed social workers who already hold a professional social work license who graduated from CWRU Mandel School, holding an MSSA degree, or from a CSWE-accredited graduate social work program with an MSW or equivalent. Post-graduate students work with MSASS to determine whether their coursework meets approval for enrollment in the school social work curriculum at BW.

Enrollment requires joint approval from CWRU MSASS and BW, as described in the application process. Once approved, students enroll in three graduate courses at Baldwin Wallace University:

  • EDU-510 Educational Studies
  • EDU-584 Pupil Services and Community Resources
  • EDU-573 Education of Children with Special Needs

Upon completion, students send their BW transcript to MSASS to become eligible to apply for a school social work license granted by the State of Ohio Department of Education.
