Karyn Gentile is the director of Baldwin Wallace’s athletic training program. The current athletic training program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), will be graduating its last cohort in Spring 2022. Gentile is overseeing the transition of the CAATE Accredited Program to a Pre-Athletic Training Pathway, including the establishment of various MSAT articulation agreements.

Gentile began her tenure at Baldwin Wallace in 1996 and has served as the athletic training program director since 2003. She advises students majoring in athletic training and coordinates their clinical experiences, both on-campus as well as at various off-campus affiliated sites.

Courses taught by Gentile are primarily within the sports medicine curriculum, such as principles of sports medicine, therapeutic modalities, emergency care and practicum courses. Gentile serves as the faculty advisor of the BW student organization Collegiate Organization of Athletic Student Trainers (COAST). The COAST organization sponsors guest speakers and provides opportunities for students to travel to state, district and national conventions. Gentile also serves as a facilitator for ACES, a preparatory workshop designed to help prepare students for the national board of certification exam. Prior to returning to her alma mater, Gentile served as an assistant athletic trainer at Syracuse University in New York.
